Holiday From Hell Insurance - Legal Expenses Insurance If Your Holiday is Messed Up
When we go on holiday, we obviously hope everything will be fine. We trust that our travel agent has booked the holiday that we wanted. We trust that the airline or rail or coach trip provider will get us to our destination. We hope that when we arrive, if we're staying in a hotel or property owned by someone, that it will be complete and not right next to another that's being built and which we weren't told about! We hope that if we've hired a car, that it will be there, the type we want and that it works! Sadly, this isn't always the case. We often see programmes on television that describe the disappointments of holiday-makers and the incompetence of those who have contributed to ruining the time away that someone was looking forward to so much. What makes matters worse is that these reports often illustrate how, when some makes a complaint to an airline or hotel or tour operator and asks for some kind of recompense, their request is turned down or the amount of compensation offered is, in itself, offensive. Although some people persist and may obtain a slightly raised level of compensation, many people just give up. After all, what's the alternative? Legal action? Well, we all know how much that can cost, with no guaranteed of success. Well, in the UK, there's a new kind of insurance that has become available. Commonly called Holiday from Hell Insurance, its correct name is Legal Expenses Insurance. This policy is designed to cover the cost of professional fees charged by a claims handler, or solicitor following a specific occurrence, provided that cover for that occurrence is detailed within the policy wording. The breach of contract claim can be in order to seek compensation and or implementation of the contract from the following: a) Your Tour Operator or Holiday Company
b) Your Travel Agent
c) A Car Hire company with whom you have pre-booked a vehicle
d) An Airline, Ferry, Train, Coach Operator or Cruise Liner
e) A Hotelier or Property Owner Obviously, it's important to amass as much evidence as possible of what has gone wrong, along with providing the insurer with a copy of the agreement or contract, and stating clearly how the provider has broken their side of it. When we go on holiday, we want things to be right and to have a good time. We all know mistakes can happen and when they do, it's only fair that they're handled promptly and recompense is offered. If it isn't, the road to legal action needn't now be barred because of our concern about the expense. Big companies who mess up our time away should not feel they can hide behind their size - you can now insure against the costs of legal action against them.
